I have always been fascinated by the connection between stories and real-life journeys, as one invariably informs the other. I have always been a storyteller - creating my own life through the power of my words. Now I want to help you narrate your own life so you understand how you shape it and why you experience it the way you do.

I have always had a keen interest in anthropology and psychology - at university, I minored in social psychology and later worked at the British Museum and the Museum of Mankind, and for a brief period, I was secretary to the Society of Psychical Research. Inevitably, this led to a keen interest in the esoteric side of life, and I soon began designing my own life-journey cards as an alternative to the tarot.

 

My mid twenties up until my late thirties were quite wild, and I drank deep from life, meeting all sorts of people from different backgrounds and nationalities- collecting, writing and living out stories - discovering what made different people tick. It was during this period that I became deeply interested in Chinese philosophy and that extraordinary oracle - the I Ching, which is one of the best guides to self-development I know of.

At this time, I was also pursuing a career in film and theatre, and I attended many workshops on the nature of story and its relationship to a universal need to make sense of our lives. I soon fell under the spell of Joseph Campbell and his remarkable book, Hero with a Thousand Faces. Naturally, this led me to the works of the great psychotherapist Carl Jung, who wrote about a universal wellspring of shared symbolism that we can all tap into, no matter who we are.

Jung writes a lot about what we might wrongly term 'magic' by which is meant those strange, mysterious episodes in life, the signs and meaningful coincidences which are still poorly understood.  His writings on astrology convinced me that this too was something I needed to study, and so I enrolled for a year with the internationally acclaimed Faculty of Astrology, successfully completing their foundation course, which led me up to the present day.
